STANDARD USSR STATE METALS IMPACT BENDING TEST METHOD AT LOW, ROOM AND HIGH TEMPERATURES GOST 9454-78 Official Edition STANDARDS PUBLISHING HOUSE Moscow Provided by IHS r networking permitted without license from IHS Not for Resale Group B09 UDC 669.01:620.174:006.354 USSR STATE STANDARD METALS GOST Impact bending test method at low, room and high 9454-78 temperatures OKSTU (All-Union Classification Code of Standards and Specifications) 1909 Date of introduction 01.01.79 This Standard applies to ferrous and non-ferrous metals and alloys and establishes the test method for impact bending at temperatures from -100 °C to 1 200 °C The method is based on destruction of a sample with the concentrator in the middle by a pendulum impact. The sample ends are located on supports. The determination of full energy, spent during the impact (impact work), or of impact elasticity, shall be considered as the test result The impact elasticity shall be understood as the impact work at a ratio to initial cross sectional area of the sample at the concentrator site. (Amended Wording, Amendments Nos. 1 and 2). 1. METHOD OF SAMPLING 1.1 The shape and sizes of the test samples shall correspond to those indicated in table and in fig. 1 to 3. It shall be allowed to use samples without incision and with one or two rough surfaces, whose width dimensions differ from those specified in table. The range of application of samples is specified in Appendix1 (Reference). The tests of samples of types 4, 14 and 18 shall be carried out at the customer's request for special-purpose items. 1.2. The site for cutting out of a billet for manufacturing of a sample, concentrator axis orientation, technology of the billet cutting out and sample manufacturing shall products specifications and technical documentation. All the mentioned above for non-ferrous metals and alloys shall be specified in products specifications and technical documentation. T-type concentrator shall be obtained at the top of the initial incision upon simple cyclic bending of a sample. The way of obtaining of the initial concentrator may be voluntary. The number of cycles, necessary to obtain the crack of the given depth, shall be no less than 3 000. 1.5.
